Besiktas have agreed a €20million (£17.1m, $22.9m) deal with Arsenal to sign Leandro Trossard.

The deal consists of an €18m fee with a further €2m in add-ons but the transfer is not yet completed, with wages up to around €9m and personal terms in the process of being finalised.

Trossard only has one year left on his Arsenal contract, after agreeing new terms in August 2025 that granted the forward a significant pay rise but did not extend his stay at the Emirates beyond the already-set expiry of 2027.

The 31-year-old is currently at the World Cup with Belgium, as they prepare to face the United States in a last-16 tie on Monday. Trossard has started in all four games for Rudi Garcia’s side to date in the tournament, scoring twice in the 5-1 group-stage win over New Zealand and providing an assist in the 3-2 comeback victory over Senegal in the last-32 stage. The deal is considered unlikely to progress until after the national team’s run in the World Cup ends.

The Belgium international played a significant role for Arsenal in the 2025-26 season as they won their first Premier League title since 2004. He made 50 appearances in all competitions, recording eight goals and 11 assists, and started 21 league matches.

Among Trossard’s most significant contributions during the title campaign was his 83rd-minute winner away at West Ham United on May 10 which helped Arsenal maintain a five-point advantage over second-place Manchester City.

Trossard has been a regular member of Mikel Arteta’s squad since joining Arsenal in a £27million ($35.8m) deal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. He has made 174 appearances, contributing 36 goals and 34 assists, primarily operating on the left but providing a central option when Arsenal were affected by injuries.

The 2023-24 campaign was Trossard’s strongest in front of goal, as he scored 16 times across the Premier League and Champions League.

He joined Arsenal after a successful first half of 2022-23 with Brighton, in which he scored seven goals, including a hat-trick against Liverpool in a 3-3 draw. Prior to his Brighton move, Trossard’s early career played out in Belgium.
