Aga Khan University Hospital spreads its tentacles to Kamakis

Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) has launched its 51 st outpatient medical Centre in Kamakis to serve the residents of the rapidly expanding Ruiru area. The opening of the clinic is in line with the hospital’s strategy of increasing access to quality and specialized care, Speaking at the official opening ceremony, Mr Ashok Shah, the Group CEO, of Apollo Investments limited who was also the chief guest said that partnerships between hospitals and health insurance companies are critical to ensure patients access the quality care they need near them and timely.
“Our slogan at APA insurance is ‘Insuring Happiness’, this means that when a patient comes to seek care in a hospital like AKUH, responds well to treatment and finally gets healthy, this continues their happiness journey in life and we share this success,” he said.

Rashid Khalani, AKUH CEO said the growth of the hospital is guided by its values of quality, impact, relevance and access. He added that inspired by these values the hospital will continue to increase its outreach centres across the region to provide quality care to people within their neighborhoods.“We have also deliberately invested significant resources in quality processes to ensure excellent clinical outcomes for our patients. These have been validated by external accreditation bodies such as the Joint Commission International, the College of American Pathologists and the South African National Accreditation System.These accreditations confirm that our services are in line with global standards and at par with the best international hospitals,” said Mr Khalani.

Located at the Viashala Business Center, the clinic offers a wide both general and specialised services including obstetrics and gynecology, paediatrics, ENT, well baby, antenatal, family medicine and dermatology clinics. Diagnostic services such as laboratory, ultrasound and x-ray are also available. The clinic is served by a well-stocked pharmacy. The opening of the clinic at Kamakis, follows that of the Eastleigh Medical Centre. The hospital’s
outpatient centres are located in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
