SportPesa Awards Millions to Jackpot Winners, Boosts Grassroots Football in Bomet

SportPesa celebrated three life-changing jackpot winners during an unveiling event held in Bomet County, awarding more than Kshs 40 million in winnings while also supporting grassroots football through a community exhibition match.

Leading the winners was Patrick Chepkwony from Konoin, Bomet County, who scooped Kshs 18.6 million after correctly predicting all 13 matches in the Mega Jackpot Pro. Chepkwony, a Mathematics and Physics teacher based in Kericho, said years of experience on the SportPesa platform, combined with careful match analysis using various betting platforms and SportPesa’s SP Score feature, contributed to his success.

Inspired by former Mega Jackpot winner Cosmos Korir, who hails from the wider Bomet region and previously won more than Kshs 200 million, Chepkwony credited discipline and probability for his win. He revealed that he first shared the exciting news with his Head of Department while still at school after receiving confirmation of the jackpot victory. He plans to invest part of the winnings in dairy farming and building a family home.

Also unveiled was Stephen Odhiambo from Siaya County, a Nairobi-based mechanic working in Kariokor, who won over Kshs 17.3 million after accurately predicting all 13 Midweek Jackpot matches. Odhiambo described himself as a casual player who simply places his bets and patiently waits for the results. He said the winnings will help him expand his garage business while improving his family’s living standards and education.

The third winner, Pius Kipsang from Nandi County, received a Kshs 5.2 million bonus after missing just one match in the 17-match Mega Jackpot. The surveyor said he intends to use part of the money to improve his family’s quality of life.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, SportPesa Public Relations and Advertising Executive Deborah Chipkirui Maina congratulated the winners while urging Kenyans to embrace responsible gaming.

“Betting should strictly remain a form of entertainment and should never involve rent, school fees, or food money. We also encourage responsible gaming and strictly discourage underage betting,” she said.

The event concluded with a community exhibition match featuring Chaptalal FC, a team sponsored under Tujiamini SportPesa’s CSR initiative and Magengi FC, a grassroots football team from Merigi, Bomet County.

The winning team received Kshs 30,000, two footballs, and a full set of kits, while the runners-up walked away with Kshs 20,000 and a set of kits as part of SportPesa’s ongoing efforts to support local talent, youth empowerment, and community development beyond gaming.
