MICDE Convenes the Kenya Data Governance Capacity Building

The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy(MICDE) convened the Kenya Data Governance Capacity Building and Engagement Workshop, bringing together over 70 participants from State Departments, including public sector data stewards, ICT officers and policy actors.
The workshop aims to strengthen how government institutions manage and use data as a strategic national asset and support evidence-based decision-making across the public sector.

Data is the new oil, it fuels innovation, drives economies and strengthens governance.
The workshop was officiated by the Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, represented by the Secretary of the ICT Security Directorate, Emmanuel Kata.
In his remarks, the Principal Secretary reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to positioning Kenya as a leader in the global digital economy through the Digital Superhighway under the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
“We must ensure that the enormous data we generate, collect and store becomes an engine of inclusive growth, innovation and improved public service delivery,” he noted.
The workshop is implemented in partnership with KICTANet, AUDA-NEPAD and GIZ, supporting ongoing efforts to strengthen data governance, advance digital public infrastructure and build a resilient digital economy.
