Stanbic Kenya Foundation unveils Microsoft Elevate AI Skilling

  • Stanbic Kenya Foundation launches the Microsoft Elevate AI National Skilling Initiative;

Stanbic Keya Foundation, in partnership with Microsoft, Pathways Technologies and Konza Technopolis,has supported the rollout of the Microsoft Elevate AI National Skilling Initiative across four counties.

152 participants have been trained across coastal counties – Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Taita Taveta and Embu as the program seeks to equip trainers and institutions with foundational and practical AI skills.
The initiative is designed around the needs of Kenya’s workforce, to support the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.

“Digital literacy is one of the core pillars of Stanbic Kenya Foundation’s work. Through this pillar, we partner with TVETs and Vocational Training Centres to build the capacity of instructors to deliver digital skills training that supports employability, entrepreneurship and participation in the digital economy,” said Mercy Githanji, Head of Stanbic Foundation.

Through the Future ni Digital platform,learners continue to access training across basic, intermediate and advanced digital skills, contributing to more than 250,000 Kenyans trained since 2019.

Winnie Karanu, Microsoft AI Skills Director, Microsoft, said “through partners like Stanbic Foundation, we have been able to deliver training via county-level engagements and community-based platforms, expanding access beyond major cities. Content has also been tailor-made to include key sectors such as agriculture, entrepreneurship and small business operations, ensuring practical relevance.”
