How to Check Your 2025 KCSE Results: Everything You Need to Know

Education CS Julius Ogamba released the 2025 KCSE results today at Chebisas High School in Eldoret. Nearly one million candidates (996,078 to be exact) sat for the exams across 10,755 centers nationwide.

How to Check Your 2025 KCSE Results

Via SMS:

  • Send your index number to 20076
  • Costs KES 25 per message
  • This method works on Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom

Online (KNEC Portal):

  • Go to https://results.knec.ac.ke
  • Enter your index number and name (exactly as registered)
  • Select 2025 as the exam year
  • Click submit to view and print

Schools will also receive printed result slips, so if the online system is overloaded, just visit your school.

What Those Symbols on Your KCSE Result Slip Mean

  • X = You were absent for one or more papers
  • Y = Results cancelled due to exam irregularities or misconduct
  • P = Results pending (usually due to registration mismatches)
  • W = Results withheld pending malpractice investigation
  • U = Ungraded (you sat the exam but didn’t meet minimum grading criteria)

If something looks wrong, you can check three things immediately:

  1. Personal details (name, index number, school code)
  2. All your registered subjects are listed
  3. Grades match the correct subjects

If you find an error, you can report it to your school principal right away. Bring your original registration form and any supporting documents. The school will submit the correction through KNEC’s Query Management Information System (QMIS).

KUCCPS will open its portal for university and college placement applications. The Ministry has announced a policy change where final certificates will be collected from sub-county education offices instead of schools to avoid delays related to unpaid school fees.

Remember to only use official channels. CS Ogamba warned against fake links and social media claims circulating online.

This is one of the last cohorts examined under the 8-4-4 system as Kenya continues transitioning to the Competency-Based Curriculum.
