In a response to a query, the agency noted that individuals can retrieve the documents through official government channels, provided they follow the required process.
Huduma Kenya explained that affected people should return to the original registration point where their birth was first recorded.
“By visiting the same place you did the first initial birth certificate application with the birth certificate to acquire that particular ID, you’ll also be assisted accordingly,” Huduma Kenya explained.
Applicants are required to visit either the original registration office or a Huduma Kenya Centre. There, officers can trace the birth entry using personal details such as the applicant’s full name, date and place of birth, and the names of the parents.
For cases where birth notifications for children are missing, Huduma Kenya said applicants should return to the hospital where the child was born. The hospital will provide a copy of the child’s notification.
Huduma Kenya added that the notification copy comes at a fee, which varies from hospital to hospital.
“If it’s a child, you’ll go back to the hospital of birth and get a copy of the child’s notification at a fee depending on the hospital,” it noted.
The agency also stated that when these related documents are available, applicants can process birth certificate applications online through the eCitizen portal. The portal allows Kenyans to apply for the service before they visit Huduma centres to obtain the required documents.
